CSC-Chinese University Program (full scholarship)

1. Eligibility:

(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.  
(2) Applicants should meet either of the following eligibility requirements:  
 not be a registered student at a China's university at the time of application;  
 a graduating degree student at a China's university who plan to apply for the 2018 entry into master’s or doctoral program;  

(3) Education background and age limit:  
 Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.  
 Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40


2. Application Procedure:

Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the master's or doctoral programme of Xiamen University. (The guidance for admission application is available at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn: How to apply for master's / doctoral programmes )

Note: This scholarship program is NOT available to students admitted into the following programs: Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL), their native language or in a third country's language such as English or French.  

 Applicants shall make online application at  http://laihua.csc.edu.cn (Agency No. of Xiamen University: 10384) and download and print the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarshipand then sign the form.

 Applicants are required to make another online application at 

http://application.xmu.edu.cn/  and then download and print out the Application Form for International Students generated after successful online application.

Sino-US Cultural Exchange Scholarship (full scholarship)

The Sino-US Cultural Exchange Scholarship program is sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China to finance American students either for degree studies or for non-degree credits. The degree-study scholarship provides full funds for full-time American undergraduate, master’s or doctoral candidates admitted by the designated Chinese universities. 

1. Eligibility:

(1) Applicants must be American citizens in good health;
(2) Education background and age limit:  
 Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25.
 Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
 Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40.

Note: This scholarship is NOT available to students admitted into academic programs to study their native language or other languages except for Chinese language. 

2. Application Procedure:

Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the undergraduate,master's or doctoral programme of Xiamen University. Chinese Government Marine Scholarship (full scholarship)

1. Eligibility:

(1) The applicant should be a citizen of non-Chinese nationality in good health, from a coastal/island country of South China Sea, theIndian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island country, or an African developing country.
(2) The applicant should apply for the postgraduate program of ocean-related specialties. Applicants will be given priority if they are engaged in the ocean-related field.
(3) Education background and age limit:
Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be usually under the age of 40.
Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master's degree and be usually under the age of 45.

2. Application Procedure:

Applicants are eligible for scholarship assessment only after they are admitted to the master's or doctoral programme related to Marine Science of Xiamen University. Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program  (full or partial scholarships)

1. Eligibility:

The Bilateral Program supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars and senior scholars. Please consult the dispatching authorities of your home country for the categories available. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and have a high school diploma or higher.

2. Application Procedure:

(1) Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for CGS opportunity;
(2) Apply to Xiamen University for the Pre-admission Letter once recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate
you will receive an Award Letter for CGS Candidate).

(3) Complete the online application procedure at CGS Information Systemhttp://laihua.csc.edu.cn/#/login), submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. You should consult the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for Instructions of CGS Information System and Agency Number;
(4) Submit all of your application documents to the dispatching authorities of your home country before the deadline.
3. Application Time: January to April

Applicants may refer to their dispatching authorities or Chinese diplomatic missions for deadline of the application.

4. Result Release Time: July

China Scholarship Council sends the awardees' admission documents to the Chinese embassy or consulate-general before July 31st. The Chinese embassy or consulate-general will send the admission documents to the dispatching authorities or scholarship recipients.


Chinese Government Scholarship-MOFCOM Scholarship (full scholarship)

MOFCOM Scholarship supports Master’s program for 2-3 years or PhD program for 3-4 years. Scholarship winners must register for English-taught program if such program is available. When only Chinese-taught program is available, students should take Chinese language training courses for one to two years before moving on to their degree study. 

1. Eligibility:To be eligible, applicants must:

-be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;
 -be a bachelor’s degree holder when applying for master’s program;
 -be a master’s degree holder when applying for doctoral program;
 -be under the age of 45 when applying;
 -have sufficient English or Chinese proficiency which meets the academic requirements of the program.
2. Application Procedure:

(1) Applicants are required to make online application at http://laihua.csc.edu.cn and download and print the Application Form for MOFCOM Scholarshipand then sign the form.

(2) Submit all the application materials in both hard copy and scanned copy to the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of Chinese Embassy before 30th April.

3. Application Time:  January to April

Applicants may refer to the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office (ECCO) of the Chinese Embassy in their home country for deadline of the application.

4. Result Release Time: By the end of August. 

Scholarship winners will get the admission package from ECCO of the Chinese Embassy by the end of August, and must register at the host university before the deadline which is usually September.



Confucius China Study Plan – Fellowships for PhD Programmes

The Plan consists of two subprograms, including the “Sino-foreign Joint PhD Subprogram” and “PhD in China Subprogram. The majority of financial support is provided through support of specific research and other projects on designated academic areas of Humanities and Social Sciences. The financial support includes: subsidies for living expenses and accommodation costs, research funds (reimbursed for actual costs); international round-trip airfare, tuition and other training expenses charged by the Chinese university, subsidies for health and accident insurance in China, subsidies for group activities and culture experience events, expenditures for conducting research in China by overseas supervisors of the students participating in the Sino-foreign Joint PhD subprogram.

1. Eligibility:

(1)Joint Research Ph. D Fellowship: to support doctoral students (candidates) registered with foreign universities to come to China for study, research and writing of their doctoral dissertations. The duration of the program ranges from 6 months to 2 years.

(2)Ph. D in China Fellowship: to support foreign students to pursue full-time Ph.D. degrees in the humanities and social sciences at Chinese universities. The duration of the program is generally 4 years.

• Applicants who are currently participating in Chinese Government Scholarship are not eligible to apply for this Plan.

2. Application Procedure:

Applicants are required to log on to http://ccsp.chinese.cn/article/2017-11/22/content_708540.htm to fill in the Application Form and upload the required documents. Xiamen University should be chosen as the host university. After the online application, a complete set of all required application documents should be mailed to the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

Scholarship for Chinese Language Learning, BTSCOL and MTSCOL (Bachelor's/Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages)

(1)Eligibility:

●The Scholarship Scheme is provided to foreign students who have a high school diploma or higher and would like to study Chinese in China or study in the programme of BTCSOL(Bachelor of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) and MTCSOL (Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages).

●Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and shall be aged at 16-35. Applicants for Bachelor's program should be aged below 25. Chinese language teachers shall be aged below 45).

(2)Application Procedure:

Confucius Institute Scholarships: Professional Development Program for Chinese Language Teachers in South Asian Countries

1. Eligibility:

Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens from South Asia, mainly including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Afghanistan, and be in good health.

Fujian Provincial Government Scholarships for International Students (partial scholarship)

Fujian Provincial Government set up this scholarship in 2012 to finance international students to study inFujianin an undergraduate, master's or doctoral program. The scholarship will cover tuition and accommodation for one academic year.

 Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

 Educational background and age limits:

Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 30.

Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.

Xiamen University Scholarships for New International Students (partial scholarship)

XMU offers scholarships to doctoral, master's and undergraduate candidates. Scholarship awardees will have their tuition covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2or 3 years for master's programmes, 4 or 5 years for undergraduate programmes). Moreover, XMU provides monthly living allowances for outstanding master's or doctoral candidates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships.

Xiamen University Scholarships for Exceptional Students

XMU itself awards scholarships to international students who have turned in an exceptional performance in their studies at XMU toward a bachelor's or master's or doctoral degree. This scholarships fall into two classes.

1. Value of the Scholarships:

Doctoral candidates:  1st class: 10,000 yuan RMB;  2nd class: 6,000 yuan RMB;

Master's candidates:  1st class: 8,000 yuan RMB;  2 nd class:5,000 yuan RMB;

Bachelor's candidates:  1st class: 6,000 yuan RMB;  2nd class:4,000 yuan RMB;

Tan Kah Kee Scholarships (full scholarship)

The Tan Kah Kee Scholarships have been set up by The Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Education Foundation as part of its efforts to promote the legacy of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, “the standard-bearer of overseas Chinese and the glory of the nation”, and to foster the Tan Kah Kee spirit in entrepreneurship and dedication to education. The Scholarships are open to outstanding international students of Chinese descent and students in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who are descendants of Jimei alumni to study at Xiamen. XMU is one of the institutions authorized to enroll students on the Tan Kah Kee Scholarships.

1. Eligibility:

(1) International students of Chinese descent with valid foreign passports and in good health, particularly those from countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Africa and Europe along the routes of the Maritime Silk Road.

(2) Applicants shall adhere to the “One China” Principle, be friendly to their mother country, and abide by the laws, rules and regulations of the Chinese Government.

(3) Educational background and age limits:

Applicants for bachelor’s degree studies must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 30.

Applicants for master's degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
