Banking
The China Construction Bank, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and a number of ATMs are available inside the campus; there is a branch of the Bank of China near the gate of the campus.
Foreign credit cards such as VISA, MasterCard and JBC can be used, although their use entails a handling fee, so it is more practical and cheaper to open a bank account upon presentation of your passport.
Post Office
There is a branch of China Post close to the gate of the campus, from where airmails, Express Mail Service items and so on can be sent. Worldwide express delivery companies like DHL and FedEx also have offices in Xiamen.
Computing services
The overseas dormitories have internet connections in the rooms, making it easy for students living there to keep in touch with family and friends. The various libraries, multimedia laboratories, and internet-cafes also provide internet access, document scanning, photocopying and other similar services.
Assistants are on hand to help with any problems of inputting Chinese or other technical problems. Students with their own laptop can register and use it in the computer-rooms on presentation of their student card and subject to an on-line charge of about 2 RMB per hour.
Eating facilities: There are 8 refectories on Xiamen Main Campus and two on the Zhangzhou Campus: the North, the South as well as the Hotel refectory. Opening hours are as follows:
Breakfast 6:10--8:30
Lunch 10:30—13:00
Supper 16:30—19:00
Campus card: For greater convenience on campus, on presentation of your student card you can set up a “Campus Debit Card” which can be used for shopping in the campus supermarkets and eating in the campus refectories without having to carry cash. |
