Chinese Government Scholarships-Chinese University Program (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2019):

(1) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(2) Doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40.

3. Applicants who apply for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) or programs of foreign language studies are not eligible.

II. Application Procedures

Application for the Scholarship will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to XMU. Application guidelines for different degree programs are available at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn.

1. Applicants shall make online application at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn (Program Category: Type B; Agency No. of XMU: 10384) and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

2. Applicants shall make another online application at http://application.xmu.edu.cn and upload the scan copy of Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships.

III. Application Period: February 1-April 10, 2019.

IV. Result Release Time: Late July or early August, 2019.

Sino-U.S. Cultural Exchange Degree-study Scholarship (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be American citizens in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2019):

(1) Bachelor’s degree programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 25;

(2) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(3) Doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40.

3. Applicants who apply for programs of foreign language studies are not eligible.

II. Application Procedures

Application for the Scholarship will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to XMU. Application guidelines for different degree programs are available at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn.

Marine Scholarship of China (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicant must be non-Chinese citizens in good health, from a coastal/island country of South China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific and its surrounding island countries, or an African, American developing country.

2. Applicant must apply for the postgraduate degree program of ocean-related specialties. Applicants will be given priority if they are currently engaged in oceanographic and relevant sectors.

3. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2019):

(1) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 40;

(2) Doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 45.

II. Application Procedures

Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program (Full or Partial Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be American citizens in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2019):

(1) Bachelor’s degree programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 25;

(2) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(3) Doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40;

(4) General scholar programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 45;

(5) Senior scholar programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 50.

II. Application Procedures

1. Applicants should apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of their home country for CGS opportunity.

2. Applicants should apply to the target university for the Pre-admission Letter once recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate.

3. Applicants shall make online application at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

4. Applicants should submit all of the application documents to the dispatching authorities of their home country before the deadline.

III. Application Period: Early January to early April, 2019. Applicants may refer to their dispatching authorities or Chinese diplomatic missions for deadline of the application.

IV. Result Release Time: Late July, 2019.

MOFCOM Scholarship (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from a developing country and be in good health.

2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2019):

(1) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 45;

(2) Doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 45.

3. Applicants should have sufficient English or Chinese proficiency that meets the academic requirements of the program.

II. Application Procedures

1. Applicants shall make online application at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn and print out the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarships. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant.

2. Applicants should submit all the application materials to the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office (ECCO) of Chinese Embassy before deadline.

III. Application Period: Early January to late April, 2019. Applicants may refer to the Economic and Commercial Counselor’s Office (ECCO) of the Chinese Embassy in their home country for deadline of the application.

IV. Result Release Time: Late August, 2019.

Confucius China Study Plan (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.

2. Chinese Proficiency Requirements:

(1) Applicants for the Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship should have a Chinese proficiency certificate of new HSK 4 Level with 210 scores or above. Preference will be given, other qualifications being equal, to candidates with high levels of Chinese proficiency.

(2) Applicants for the Ph.D. in China Fellowship should have a Chinese proficiency certificate of new HSK 5 Level with 210 scores or above. Preference will be given, other qualifications being equal, to candidates with high levels of Chinese proficiency.

3. Applicants who are currently participating in other scholarships are not eligible to apply for this Plan.

II. Application Procedures

Applicants are required to log on to the application system (http://ccsp.chinese.cn/node_43263.htm) to fill in the Application Form and upload the required documents. Xiamen University should be chosen as the host university. After the online application, a complete set of all required application documents should be mailed to the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban.

III. Application Period: Late November, 2018 to February 20, 2019.

IV. Result Release Time: July, 2019.

Confucius Institute Scholarships (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health, with good academic performance and conduct.

2. Applicants should committed to the teaching and international promotion of the Chinese language.

3. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2019). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.

III. Application Period

1Before April 20, 2019 (for programs commencing in July 2019).

2Before May 20, 2019 (for programs commencing in September 2019).

Professional Development Program for Chinese Language Teachers in South Asian Countries

(Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Afghanistan, and be in good health with good academic performance and conduct.

2. Applicants should committed to the teaching and international promotion of the Chinese language.

3. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 35 (as of September 1, 2019). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45.

II. Application Procedures

III. Application Period

1Before May 20, 2019 (for programs commencing in September 2019).

XMU Scholarships for New International Students (Partial Scholarship)

XMU Scholarships for Exceptional Students (Lump-sum Cash Prize)

I. Eligibility: Current full-time international degree students at XMU.

II. Scholarships Content

Prize (first-class) is worth RMB 6,000 for bachelor’s program; RMB 8,000 for master’s program; RMB 10,000 for doctoral program. Prize (second-class) is worth RMB 4,000 for bachelor’s program; RMB 5,000 for master’s program; RMB 6,000 for doctoral program.

III. Application Period:  Early March, 2019.

Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Scholarships (Full Scholarship)

I. Eligibility

1. Applicants must be Chinese descendants from countries along the Maritime Silk Road (particularly in Southeast Asia), and possess a valid foreign passport.

2. Applicants shall adhere to the “One China” Principle, be friendly to their mother country, abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese Government, and be in good health.

3. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2019):

(1) Bachelor’s degree programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 30;

(2) Master's degree programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 35;

(3) Doctoral degree programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40.

Application for the Scholarship will be considered only after the applicant has been admitted to XMU. Application guidelines for different degree programs are available at http://admissions.xmu.edu.cn.

1. Applicants are required to apply online at http://application.xmu.edu.cn and upload the scan copy of Application Form for Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Scholarships and Certification of Chinese Origin. The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English with handwritten signature from the applicant. The Certification of Chinese Origin should bear the stamp of the recommending organization and handwritten signature from the person in charge.

2. Applicants are required to mail paper-based application documents for both admission and scholarships (including Application Form for Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Scholarships and Certification of Chinese Origin) to XMU's Admissions Office. Applicants should indicate “Application for Xiamen Tan Kah Kee Scholarships” on the front cover of the package.

III. Application Period: February 1 to May 10, 2019.

IV. Result Release Time: Late July or early August, 2019.
